Tropea is essentially about one thing - the beach. But it's a beautiful beach. There is a nice old town but it's unremarkable by Italian standards. I visited for two days in March when things were quiet but I still had a very nice time.

Tropea has a lot of stairs to the beach and also most of the hotels or b&b's have stairs so it can be challenging for ppl who find stairs a problem. Make sure you take the boat ride to Capo Vaticano. It was amazing with turquoise water. Loved it

Just get a regular room, don’t pay extra for this. The hottub is just a jetted bathtub, the water doesn’t get hot, just lukewarm and the jets were not very strong and there was film in the water before we got in."

"Bizantini Stylish Apartments is a must stay in Tropea! The property is new, clean, well maintained and inviting. Rooms are spacious and have the amenities needed for either a short term or long term stay. The ability to have a kitchen and washing machine was perfect, allowing you to not have to eat out at every meal and limit the need to pack outfits for everyday. There’s a balcony for you to enjoy at your pleasure, or a courtyard that’s available for relaxation or to enjoy a drink. Also, the availability of an elevator makes it easy to bring luggage’s up and down (most places don’t have this amenity)
It’s very conveniently located, with a grocery store right across the street and another just a 5 minute walk up the road. Restaurants and the beach are within a ten minute walk. It’s also located near by other towns with beautiful beaches like Zambrone and Capo Vaticano. If you have a vehicle, there is some parking available for you.
The property manager, Romina, is truly wonderful and attentive to her guests needs. Her availability when we needed something or her general care for our comfort during the stay was truly appreciated. She also had great recommendations for nearby beaches and local eats.

"If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. As a solo female traveler, comfort and safety are top priorities for me—and Radici in Tropea delivered beyond every expectation. From the moment I arrived, I felt at ease. The location is ideal: tucked just enough away from the bustling streets to offer peace and quiet, yet right in the heart of the centro storico, with everything just a short stroll away. I highly recommend going to La Lamia for dinner, and get the carbonara!
The room itself was perfection—the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in on my entire trip, perfectly cool with great air conditioning, and even Netflix to wind down after a day of exploring. Every detail felt thoughtful, intentional, and designed to make you feel completely at home. It’s modern, yet rustic and homey.
What truly made the stay exceptional was Pia, the host. Warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating, she anticipated every need without me even having to ask. "We loved our stay at Hibiscus with our 1yr old son. The lovely team gave us a travel cot, toys for our son and the animals (chickens, ducks, dog) were a hit with him! It walkable (even shorter drive with easy parking) to the beach, easy walk to town. We only wished it had a pool and it would have been even better but that’s our personal preference not an issue with the property. Would highly recommend staying here. Staff are so lovely"
"A perfect stay for a Tropea getaway! Located outside the city center at beach level in a quiet area right off the beach. There's quick access to lidos down the road and a short 15-20 minute walk up a hill into town. The breakfast was a highlight especially given that there aren't many cafés around that particular area, and it allowed us to get out and enjoy the beaches. They offered so many food options from pastries to scrambled eggs, fresh coffee, and many juices. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind. Massimo organized us taxis to and from the train station which made our travel days a breeze and was always quick to respond. Would love to stay here again!"
