La Rochelle is beautiful, interesting and has plenty of things to do. The park is amazing as is the aquarium. It is very busy and can be quite noisy during the evening but there are plenty of quieter bars and restaurants to go to. Give it a go!

It's all you want from a city port, the historical architecture, the old city (pedestrian zone), the good food (sea food), the kindness of the Rochelais and their helpfulness.

Interesting city to trot about - doesn't feel like a tourist trap - genuine working city - but lots for the tourist to see and do. Aquarium highly recommended.

La Rochelle is beautiful, but take time to explore the back streets. Most restaurants do not have an English menu, so be prepared to try and translate. Some waiters will help but not for the whole menu. Menus on the harbour front are very similar.

If you can book a room at back of hotel where the pool is, can be noisy on other side. Beach is lovely in this area and only a 20min brisk walk to la Rochelle.
"Wonderful stay- large comfortable room in a lovely area, a short walk from the city centre and the old harbour. Staff were so friendly and accommodating- the bed was so comfortable! Fantastic time!"
"Great central location. Comfy bed. Fantastic friendly staff without exception. Extremely welcoming and great touch of dog bowls and biscuits. Some TLC needed in parts but overall stunning. Amazing breakfast for a celiac. The only drawback is no onsite secure parking but there is plentiful public parking only 90 seconds walk away."
"This is fantastic hotel that allows you to plug in to the joy of La Rochelle, both in its great location and in the hotel style. I loved staying here in my room with a view of Vieux Port. "
"A short walk into the centre. Lots of restaurants nearby and a little local supermarket. Parking on site was a bonus. Simple and basic but if all you’re doing is sleeping then you don’t need extra. Would stay again. Good value. "
"Very good stay, the room was really nice very good size, toilet separated not in bathroom, confortable bed. The swimming pool is quite big, pool table, baby foot and nice space to relax."
"I recently stayed in this hotel for four nights. The location is superb, I arrived by train, as it is less than five minutes walk from station, and less than five minutes walk to the town which is full of great bars and restaurants and many interesting buildings to look at. The staff are very friendly, mostly English speaking. The room was very comfortable, and my balcony view was some trees. The optional breakfast was very good value. The bathroom was clean and practical. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting La Rochelle."
"Wonderful location and surprisingly quiet for being in such a central part of the city. There is no elevator so ask for a lower floor if you have bigger luggage."
"The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Great value for the price. Nice, central location , but a little removed from the noisiness of the bustling downtown area, which was a plus. Cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. When I needed anything or had questions, that’s who I would ask because front desk staff (all three that were there during our stay) were not very helpful or friendly, bordering on downright rude. "
"The hotel is situated in a quiet area, close to the old port, about 10 mins walk to terasses and restaurants, 20mins walk to the train station. There is a Carrefour 5 mins walk from the hotel which was handy. The apartment was very clean, AC was great as we went to La Rochelle right in the middle of the heatwave. We did have to buy consumables (shower gel, toilet paper, dishwasher tablets) but we knew that already before arrival. The kitchen is well equipped for a holiday, most days we had breakfast in the room. Pool is not too big but we always found empty chairs and could cool down a bit in the afternoon. Would book again next time."
"Such a huge difference between this Ibis and the one we stayed in at Montparnasse the night before. Clean, spacious room, a/c that worked and friendly staff made for a pleasant overnight stay…tasty breakfast as well!"
"This hotel is about 15 mins from La Rochelle centre - The receptionist was very friendly and professional she spoke wonderful English and explained about the room and parking how to access barriers where to go to reach the town she was marvellous
The hotel is on street level and has a lift
The room was adequate for 2 adults and small dog - it was spotless and had all of the requirements for our stay including a well equipped kitchenette
La Rochelle has a multitude of bars and restaurants all of which were dog friendly
We took a boat trip to Fort Boyard which was great and dog went as well there are other trips if you want
I recommend a thrip to Ile de Rae fantastic Island a short drive or sea bus from La Rochelle had lunch at the harbour at Ile Rae fabulous "
