South End
South End is Burlington's creative heartbeat where brick warehouses have transformed into buzzing art galleries and craft breweries. Stroll through this industrial-turned-artistic district to discover local creatives at work in spaces like Pine Street Art Works and the quirky World's Tallest Filing Cabinet. Monthly art walks showcase Vermont's distinctive craft culture while Switchback Brewing and Citizen Cider offer perfect post-gallery refreshments.
Dining options focus on casual spots serving local ingredients with a creative twist. The neighborhood is best explored on foot or bike, with downtown Burlington just a short ride away. Though South End has limited lodging within its boundaries, you'll find plenty of options nearby to rest after your artistic adventures.
Burlington's New North End is where local life and lakeside leisure join forces without the tourist crowds. The Burlington Bike Path winds through tree-lined corridors to sandy North Beach, where Lake Champlain's waves lap against the shore. Leddy Park offers expansive green lawns, while the Intervale's community gardens showcase local agriculture and wildlife habitats.
Casual neighborhood eateries serve up comfort food at family-friendly prices, most closing early evening. Budget-friendly ethnic eateries make this area perfect for travelers who value genuine experiences over tourist traps. Take time to walk along the waterfront. Be sure to take a sailing cruise with The Whistling Man Schooner...highlight of my time there. Top off your adventure with a relaxing massage at Green Mountain Massage and Bodywork.

This is a beautiful town with much to see, walk, do, and buy. Great food, the Flynn theatre and a comedy club right next door, and over a dozen restaurants. Like any major city, which, for Vermont, Burlington is, you will encounter homeless people.

Burlington has its history, charms and its issues. The waterfront and Church street were lovely but the homeless issues are concerning. I did not feel safe after dark for a stroll.

This is a very relaxing town that has alot to offer. The trails, the shopping, the eating, and sights are all excellent.
"Great place. Maybe the best Microtel I’ve stayed at. Clean top to bottom. Had to mess with the shower drain for a second. An example place for hotels in small cities."
"This hotel offered us much more than what was described on its website. Outdoor furniture is spread throughout the large backyard along the river, where we spent time enjoying our morning coffee and relaxing after hiking. We also enjoyed the live Irish music on Thursday evening. The Stowe Recreation Path is within a short distance (0.25 mi)."

"It served tea & cookies in the afternoon! Full of charm you rarely find, with many areas to relax and socialize! Restaurant had amazing food and drinks options! The amenities were endless and 5 star quality! Staff was friendly, caring and helpful, proud to be a part of this team! After staying at thousands of hotels, I would rank this one as one of the best!"
"I usually stay at the Fairfield Inn, however they jacket up the price, so I was will to try La Quinta. 1/2 the price for basically same room, and a better breakfast offer. I was very pleased. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I plan on being back. "
