Amazing little guesthouse. Really friendly, helpful and laid-back owner. Brilliant location and great value for what I needed. Tea/coffee facilities in room and walking distance to restaurants/shops, and a short drive to many pretty villages in the area. Very quiet for the centre of town, good a good night's sleep. Would definitely return, thanks.

Very friendly staff combined with being directly opposite the train station makes Monorene an ideal base for exploring the Borders and Edinburgh alike!
Stuart, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Although everything was clean and freshly decorated decor, carpets and bedding were very old fashioned. We were disappointed that breakfast was not on offer.

We were greeted by the big boss and shown to the room, it was exactly as described and we had a comfortable night. Thank you very much

last minute booking literally checked in stayed an hour and checked out the kettle was on the floor - below the water sink bedding was from the 1980’s and the decor from the same period

4/10 Fair

The location was good, We wanted to see the Great Tapestry of Scotland. The room was very small, however, tea and coffee makings were on the floor. No breakfast though it is called a B and B. Checkout at 10 a.m, earlier than the usual 11 a.m.
Lorna, 1-night trip

I read some bad reviews about the guest house so went with an open mind. However the guest house was lovely, clean and warm with plenty of tea and good quality coffee. It's situation to public transport links was brilliant not that we had the chance to use it as we were only there for 1 night. We were there as attending a funeral, the owners let us use the car park all day which was invaluable on this occasion. I will definitely use this guest house in the future. The only improvement I could suggest would be to have a breakfast option.

Break Of Journey in Galashiels
A comfortable stay on a Sunday night to let me get to Edinburgh in good time on Monday. I travelled by car but noted how close this accommodation is to the rail and bus transport hub, and an easy walk across the nearby bridge, to the main street. Note that breakfast is nit provided at present, but is available in town.

AVOID Would give minus star rating if I could. Cancelled my booking a few days before we were due to stay because of what they said was "a booking glitch". In reality this was a lie; they took a booking for a longer stay than us. Still took the payment though so I now have to seek a refund for a stay that they cancelled. Don't let this happen to you - DON'T BOOK WITH THEM!
