The Granbell hotel is in the centre of Gion, and minutes walk away from most attractions, lots of restaurants and about 5-10 mins walk from downtown Kyoto. The rooms are fairly small, which is to be expected in the area. The hotel itself is prestine and had good facilities, including a laundry room and Onsen. We would return as it was a great location and had good facilities. The staff also were very friendly.

Our room was elegant and very comfortable, making it easy to relax after long days exploring Kyoto. What truly set our stay apart, though, was the staff. They went above and beyond to make our honeymoon feel special with thoughtful touches and warm hospitality that we’ll never forget. Every interaction felt genuine and kind, and it really elevated our whole experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Kyoto. Highly recommend the Granbell Hotel for anyone looking for comfort, beauty, and outstanding service and we will definitely be returning on our next trip to Kyoto!

Everything you need for Gion experience.

Excellent location, excellent check in, excellent breakfast. Loved the onsen and security card for my wife (women). Next door to many restaurants. The lounge was awesome at any hour and the luggage storage was such a nice detail. Great experience. A great stay for exploring Gion district. You can walk to a beautiful temple and men can get their haircut a few doors down, highly recommended.

Exceptional hotel in an amazing location.

We loved this hotel! The service was wonderful, the breakfast was amazing, and even though the rooms are on the small side, they were well appointed and highly functional. Having onsite laundry was incredibly helpful. The location was very convenient for accessing the trains to everything we wanted to see & do. I cannot stress enough the appreciation I have for their cleanliness standards. Their housekeeping works very hard and pays attention to every detail. There is an incredible tiki bar across the street (KRFT) and wonderful food everywhere. It is VERY quiet even though the neighborhood is bustling with tons to do. I hope I have the chance to stay here again and would recommend it for everyone.

Excellent option in Gion District Kyoto

The Gran Bell Hotel Kyoto is a great option for staying, very well located, near all the main attractions inside Gion District. Enjoy its architecture and excellent services, especially their own Onsen! Breakfast plan included is worth it!

Rooms are the quietest and darkest. Great for sleeping and immaculately clean. Lobby is cool with a fun bartender who plays US oldie music. Onsen was beautiful. Very well located near 2 train stops. My daughter left her passport in room at checkout, which they promptly returned to us. Very highly recommend!!!!
