The staff could use some training in being a bit more friendly. The place is conveniently located on Boca Chica Beach and the rooms were clean.

Front of the beach, every thing is nice, pools, rooms, beach according to the price. But few things if the can improve like food was always cold in the buffet. Microwave was suggested. Beach towels were short every day.

Lumpy bed. Water drips from ceiling. Filthy deck no one would use. House phone was just decoration. Close bar closed at 7. Had to walk across resort to get a beer. Then shake down for tip. The A/C was nice and quiet. That’s what raised my score to poor. Arrived at 2 and had to wait until to get room key in nonA/C lobby. At 3 new guest checked in and were taken to their room. Staff acknowledged me but kept taking new arrivals. 45 minutes later they finally took me to room. Horrid customer service.

The room was clean, service was good, the food was ok, although very little variety, including beverages… for example, no “diet” sodas, which is not a big issue but indicates the type of hotel service level; no recognized brands in the liquors offered neither. The part that is not nice and is not the responsibility of the hotel is their surroundings… dirty, run down, drunk/drugged people early in the day; an ok stay inside the hotel

I had An amazing time here for my birthday vacation. There is a lot of friendly staff, unfortunately I didn’t realize that your braclet doesn’t work for all the restaurants except the buffet. Literally the only downside was the buffet food and everything else was amazing.

This property is more for locals to come and stay, especially on weekends. Boca Chica is perhaps not the prettiest area. ( town ) but the beach is very beautiful and there are some excellent restaurants nearby. Food and drinks were pretty average. Usual run arounds …one staff woke us on the beach and told us we needed new bracelets- went to reception and were told no those are ok. Water bottles in the room one day not the next. Things inexplicably closed etc. Staff were somewhat attentive but not overly friendly.

What a delightful and budget-friendly find! This resort provided a wonderfully pleasant getaway. Although the rooms could use a refresh, their minor imperfections were overshadowed by the charm of the peaceful and friendly neighborhood just outside. The resort boasts a truly gorgeous and vast beach that's perfect for soaking up the sun. Fair warning: weekends get bustling with locals, adding a vibrant energy. All in all, for the price, this place is a steal! And a pro tip: definitely venture off the resort to immerse yourself in the local culture!

Amazing Solo Birthday Trip! I went on a solo trip to Whala! Boca Chica to celebrate my birthday and it was such a great experience. I went there to relax, and that’s exactly what I got! From the moment I arrived, the welcome was amazing especially thanks to Amado, the bellman. He was so helpful and kind, it really set the tone for my stay. The entertainment team also made my trip so much more fun. huge shoutout to Miskeyla and Altagracia for bringing great vibes and energy every day. Everything about the trip made me feel relaxed, happy, and well taken care of. I’ll definitely be going back to Whala! Boca Chica. Sorvi

There are too many flies in the eating dining room and the staff was not organized with forks and drinks. The food wasn’t appetizing so I mainly ate fruit or dined elsewhere. But the views were beautiful and the room was spacious. Not sure I would come back because of the flies.

The room was fantastic! Housekeeper is very good. The food was always fresh and tasty the only thing I wished there would have been more Dominican options. Plenty to do on property. The entertainment was great. Snacks and drink where awesome..... I had trouble with my tv and engineering came to fix it immediately. The pool options worked out well and kept beautifully. The grounds are clean and full of life. Many trees and plants. I got my hair done and a massage that was really great. The GYM was closed every time I went to it but that was fine. Gift shop had many options to choose from. Everyone was absolutely great from beginning to end. I will suggest this hotel to many and I will return.

MYcond visit, check in is like being in a zoo. My suggestion: Start check in at 1 pm but do not issue the keys until 3 pm. If you are having meals in the main buffet dining room, go as soon as they open, everything will be there to select from and you will get a clean table with all the settings. However, if you go an hour after they start, there are many empty platters just sitting there and when you select a table i guarantee you will have to wait to get your cutlery or a gkass of water.... the service is poor. THESE ARE DIMPKE THINGS THAT CAN IMPROVE THE HOTELS RATINGS.

I have stayed at every resort between Boca Chica and Juan Dolio, and i would rate this one at the top. Whala! is by no means a Punta Cana quality resort, but it was ok for a short stay. This is definitely an attractive destination for locals. I would estimate that during my stay, more than 90% of the guests were locals. The check-in processes was probably the worse experience during my stay. It was slow and hot. But the limited staff were friendly. The food was better than the other resorts in the area, even the buffet. However, selections are very limited. The italian restaurant was good, not great. The beer quality was ok, and the wine not so much. I recommend bringing your own bottle of something. My room was a waterfront and it had an excellent view. Bed quality was so so, bedding cheap, and refrigerator only comes with 2 bottles of water that are not replenished. The expectation is for guests to take a water pitcher down to the hallway water dispenser and take it back to the room. That's not my thing. Housekeeping was magnificent. All in all, it is not a luxury stay, but if you are in the Santo Domingo area and want a couple days on the beach, this might be a good place to do that. But beware, there may be a lot of kids making some noise.
