A lovely place to stay.

I enjoyed my overnight stay. There is plenty of parking, the reception area is spacious and welcoming, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was spacious and light with windows on 2 sides. The food I had for dinner and breakfast was very good.

Staff A* | Cleanliness A | Condition C

Used the hotel as a base for an activities weekend, I did not eat at this hotel. The hotel is really quite grand and being located on one of the more main roads it is perfect to use as a base for journeys out. If you were just planning on staying put, I wouldn’t suggest this spot. Hotel is equally grand inside, clean and comfortable but in need of some serious tlc. No dust and hairs, but drink stains on the walls and black grout, in aging bathrooms. Kettles are a struggle to use, as the sockets and plug length do not match. To use the kettle it is on the floor, raised up on the coffee tray. Staff were all a delight; they all had personality with a kind and warm manner. The ambiance created was lovely. I noted that the site had regular diners and the evening meals appeared busy.

This is an old Estate House in immaculate condition. The staff are real people who understand how to treat guests and the food is great. Not flash, just good quality well prepared and served.

Lovely hotel in north Cumbria

Lovely room and friendly staff. Restaurant was closed when I visited so cannot comment on food.

8/10 Very good

Overall we had a lovely stay at the Greenhill Hotel. The food was excellent and all the staff friendly; especially the lady serving breakfast who couldn’t do enough for us even when we came down to breakfast late on the last day! I do feel the room rate is a little high considering the bedroom furniture is looking a little tired and the cleanliness of the shower left a lot to be desired but this was pointed out and some money was knocked off our final bill.
Alison, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Building, grounds and dining area together with the food was lovely. Room very dated. TV position not ideal, could only watch it if sat up or on left side of bed. Cracks on the bath panel and a hole on the radiator cover. Dead flies on window sill.
