I came to Amsterdam to visit my friend and see Kendrick and SZA in concert at Johan stadium and I was pleasantly surprised at the suite I booked at W and their white glove customer service! This is an expensive hotel. I was expecting better. There is no lobby to speak of. Just a tiny corner where you check in. The room was incredibly small. It was barely possible to get around the bed. There was no separate bathroom. The shower and the sink are basically in the bedroom. Only the toilet gets a separate room. There’s only two small elevators to service the whole hotel. It is not uncommon to wait several minutes for an elevator, and when it gets there you can’t get in because it’s full! The hotel is in a good location but there is no worthwhile view from any of the rooms. Our room was on the central courtyard and I could see everything in the rooms on the other side. Which means they could see in mine if I didn’t fully close the drapes. No privacy. Staff is nice, but they talk to you in a slightly condescending way. There are many hotels in Amsterdam that are nicer and cheaper. This one was a miss.

Old building that is converted into a hotel. Beautifully done. The W has actually two buildings. If you stay at one building and want to use the gym or pool, you have to cross the street. It's a very small street so it is actually charming rather than annoying. Pool and spa are GORGEOUS. I also stayed at the W in Barcelona but this one is definitely more impressive. THey also had a cool lounge on top of the building.
