We enjoyed our stay at fenix beach club! We stayed in the deluxe bungalow which was very nice and cleaned daily. Though the downfalls of fenix for us were the food price for relatively mediocre food as well as the slow service during breakfast and dinner time as we waited on average of 45 minutes just to be served. However the staff were very kind and helpful which made the overall stay at fenix very enjoyable and we would recommend staying there to anyone in the future.

I loved the beautiful property. There’s so many beautiful areas for photos and the beds are super comfortable. The beach view is great and the staff were amazing. We did find the food and drinks a bit pricey and there was a slight odor in our room. Also we did not know about boat times and we sent several messages and the response time was very slow so we ended up canceling three of the days we were going to stay there due to not being able to get a boat after our flight or before our early morning flight out and they refused to refund that day which was pretty disappointing since we didn’t stay there however I would recommend but be sure to read all fine print and contact them way in advance

My toilet in my room kept overflowing even after it was fixed the first time. No phone so I would have to leave my room if I desired anything for me or for the room. Early morning construction woke me up. At night dogs around the property would bark at night, and worse if it starts to rain. I saw dogs without their leash and saw two cats around the reception area. I mean why have animals wandering around the property? One of the dogs barked at me as it was blocking the path to go to my room. Furniture at the beach were dirty and covered with ants. I went to gag some breakfast and I sat down waiting for 15 minutes to be served. I lost my patience and left. Thank goodness there were snacks in my room and water in my minibar. I miss the hop on and off bus tour because the boat couldn’t make it on time to the hotel due to the rain. Plus as I walked around to explore the property the walkway had cracks and I almost fell. I was miserable

The property was unorganized and on a remote island where we had to pay cash to a local boater to take across the Atlantic ocean to get too. I understood there was a storm beforehand but that doesnt excuse the fact that we had no running water. I could've been okay with no hot water temporarily but no water equals rough times. We luckily had a private pool and used this for water in the toilet for both my wife and myselfs bathroom sessions to be able to flush the toilet. No fun! There also were many dogs on the island in which is not a problem if there were a just a few and taken care of. But there was feces in the sand throughout the property and unfortunately at night you cant see it. So on top of no water, feces on my shoe and the mosquito fiasco we were not happy.

Not recommended

We heard from others that they did only get their booked room class after complaining. Same happened to us, so I assume it’s a regular move. After complaining, we got the correct room that fit the picture description. Receptionist was showing off her attitude as if we asked for as free upgrade. On an island you have to accept some differences to the city, like insects and smaller reptiles. But in the room, there were clear and non-hygienic trails left by lizards, which were on the outside walls in high numbers, and the roof is build with enough openings for them to get inside. There is one staff who does a really good job. His name is Jesús (blanking on the last name, sorry). I think he did everything in his power to make it a good stay. Everything apart from him was pretty bad. Food was bad. The fries, no exaggeration, looked as if you went to the frozen food section of your local supermarket market and left em in the oven for 20 instead of 40 minutes. Not eatable. We had booked three nights. Cut our losses after one night and went back to Cartagena. We should have understood beforehand that going to Fenix island is a mistake. The communication was difficult, not responsive. We asked where the transfer from Cartagena takes off. They will only share transfer info if we pay the full price upfront through a link that they sent via Whatsapp. Weird, so we asked to pay at the hotel, no answer…so we asked our previous hotel to call them.
