This is my go-to place when I need an ocean stay in Maine. It is directly across the street from miles of sandy beach, just over a mile from the amusement park atmosphere of the pier at Old Orchard Beach in southern Maine. The staff is extremely welcoming. The restaurant/bar within the motel confines has a wide choice of options and again, the meals and service excellent. I hate to recommend the Grand Beach Motel because I may not have availability next time we want to book. It is very close to Portland, and the mill cities of Saco and Biddeford (for scouting out on a rainy day).
Sunshine welcoming another beach day in late May, 2025.

We had arrived to the hotel and went in the room was freezing and the WiFi and cable wasn’t working the hotel staff came into are room and we went aware that they had did that stuff was moved and gone threw

We travel to OOB every summer, and we stay at a different place almost every time. I guess we are still looking for a favourite. This place was clean, the staff was friendly. Our room was in good condition overall, except the mattresses. They were the worst I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. So sagging in the middle that the edges were up higher than the rest of the mattress. Great for keeping little kids from rolling out of bed, since they couldn’t roll over the humps without some effort 😂 The location is great for the beach, you just have to cross the street. But if you want to be close to the pier and palace playland, it’s a long walk. It took us about 40 mins to walk it, but that was with small children. It’s a pet friendly hotel, which is great if you have a dog. We had a friendly dog neighbour. Overall we won’t stay here again, mainly because it’s so far from the action, and because many of the beds are old.

Check in went ok in the beginning. Then maybe a hour or two after we checked in around like 8pm my phone kept ringing was the hotel calling me I answered the first time and said they didn't call me, the 2nd time was just dead air and the 3rd time it was a man asking for my card information which i left at time of check in and i guess they didn't save it. When i was trying to talk to the person he was rude and cutting me off. Mind you we were at the pier at this time and there was a lot of background noise. I was trying to explain it to the caller but he wasn't very happy something about needing to print a report out. Sorry that isn't my fault I gave the information to the person at check in. Then when we got back to our room around 9:30pm a fuse blew. called the office twice, waited 20 minutes then had to call again. Again they seemed like we were a inconvenience to them. Wifi wasn't working for anything Was an ok stay but really was hoping for a little better especially what we paid nightly.
