8/10 Very Good

The property was nice and the room was good, pretty much what you would expect for a mountain lodge, with parking close to the rooms. It's great that there is a moving stream off the balcony but the road is directly on the other side of it so you do see and hear vehicles going by from the balcony (road leads to entrance of Rocky Mtn National Park). It's still nice to listen to the water though. As far as the room, it was clean but there was a little mildew on the shower curtain; there is no A/C, only heat, but there is a fan which was helpful; the sink/stove and fridge seem to be all one piece and the fridge didn't work so there was another one in the corner of the closet which was a little awkward but worked. There were dishes, utensils, coffee and coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, etc. We didn't use it but there is a nice wood fireplace in the room. If you have several devices to plug in, I suggest bringing your own multi-plug cord. The staff was so nice and Aspen the dog was so cute and friendly. There were also fresh cookies throughout the day in the office for a nice treat! Overall it was a nice place to stay, especially if you want to be close to the park.

This property is the definition of relaxing. The location cannot be beat. It is close to town but still feels like you are in a cabin in the woods. The river on the property was so peaceful.

2/10 Poor

I reserved 2 nights at the Ponderosa for the middle of a month long road trip, was looking forward to the river view in the pictures, touring he park nearby and resting mid-trip.. 1st impression, the screen door to the patio was extremely dirty, torn badly and very difficult to even open. The view was completely different than the advertised photos. It is directly across the road, many cars noisily passing constantly and parked trucks were visible across the street. The misleading photos are mostly taken from across the street, which is not your view. Not good. The few views they show in photos from the patio are cropped so you do not see the actual, true view. I felt misled, badly. It was, by far, my worst experience of the 20 places I stayed, had to check out after one night. There are MUCH nicer options a short distance away that are set back from the road without all the traffic and thankfully I found one for the next night. Also, the ceilings are extremely low and rooms are cramped. There was creaky floor noise from the room above that awoke me in the middle of the night and kept me awake. A refrigerator was 5 feet from my head when trying to sleep that made a loud buzzing. It was a nightmare trying to rest and my dream of enjoying Rocky Mountain Park was severely compromised because of this. I wrote these complaints and asked for a full refund, received a bunch of defensive, inaccurate excuses and was thrown a crumb.

8/10 Very Good

We liked how close it was to RMNP, we were able to walk to Estes Park, so that wasn’t bad. Parking is not that good and it’s gravel so you track the sand into your room. But it is very outdoorsy and gives you the feel of being out away from everything.

The place is nice and quiet, the only thing that needs to be remodeled is the interior of the rooms.
