The dinner and breakfast I purchased were generally good, but some ingredients such as the fruits and sashimi were dry and stale, as if they had been refrigerated for a substaintial amount of time before serving. The ammenities are nice, and the hot bath was relaxing.

This property is on the outskirts of Kyoto so dining options were limited. However the breakfasts were fantastic and we should have tried the dinner option. Transportation to and from Kyoto station was easy given the nearby bus stop and City Line 6. We enjoyed the large pool (although it unfortunately closes each day at 5 which is too early) and the communal bath was relaxing! Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was large, quiet and very clean. Area around the property was safe and very quiet. A great place to stay. I have been back home for four days and have already recommended this place to a few coworkers.

Literally everything about this place has been absolutely amazing.
We got the tatami floor room with a bath and a view. The room is huge, the bathtub is huge, and the futons are more comfortable than expected. The view is beautiful too!
I go in and out a lot to smoke, so I like that the smoking section is close to the entrance.
But every time I walk by the front desk I am greeted with nothing but happiness and smiles. I have felt sooooo welcome here. The private Onsen was super nice and clean too! The location is pretty far away from anything so be prepared to spend a lot on taxis. But I knew that coming here. I'm happy it's on the super outskirts of Kyoto. It's so quiet up here in the mountains compared to the center of the city. This was the perfect way to end our trip in Japan.
There's also lots of temples within walking distance to see!
They even held our luggage for us on the first day so we could explore. Then our luggage was waiting for us in the room when we walked in!
The place has really good wifi too!

This was a definite 10/10.

We stayed at Ryokan Nenrinbo recently and had a wonderful stay. The room was beautiful and clean with a view of the cherry blossom trees from outside our window, and the futons were super comfortable. They had complimentary hot water and sencha for us to have each morning, which was a really nice touch. The only thing we were disappointed in was the food - we had originally paid to have breakfast and dinner included in our stay but we disliked the dinner the first night so much that we ended up not having any other meals at the hotel. I would recommend booking a room but skipping the food and instead getting to try all the wonderful other dining options in Kyoto.

Everything was good
Everything was good. Staffs were so friendly and kind, and they tried to explain everything to make me feel comfy. The room we stayed was newly renovated (or they made them new building, I am not sure) so clean and the food (dinner and breakfast which I booked) was very healthy and delicious. And the public bath was really good. We didn’t need to take a shower separately. Overall, it was great pleasure to stay here.

Quiet and traditional charm
This is a charming and authentic Japanese inn. The only beds are futon mats on a tatami floor and the service is extremely attentive. The breakfast is a major meal that we highly recommend, it is beautiful and all the guest go down to breakfatsbwearing the traditional vacation robes that they provide in the rooms. Overall, we had a great time. It is far from the city center, so it is good for people looking for a glimpse of a quieter neighborhood at the foot of the hills.

Surrounded by zen
I absolutely loved staying at Nenrimbo! Especially the customer service and hospitality made me feel welcomed and special. I arrived after 8pm and had to take a cab ( a few minutes away ) to go to a nearby convenience store as the hotel is located in a little bit remote area and it’s dark around. But for those who are looking for a place to regain inner zen and be mindful, this is THE place to be. I’ll certainly be staying here again on weekends.

We took a taxi from our first hotel to reach here as was a bit far from the city. It has a very beautiful garden, we got a room with the garden mountain view, was just amazing. It is very quiet so we had some peaceful time. We stayed for a day, the time frame they have 3pm -10am might be a short for a day trip, but we were ok about that. The main feature was their dinner and breakfast, which I recommend to experience! It was grand and so unique. If you are up for Japanese experience it is a must!

Great stay In Kyoto
The ryokan was amazing, first time to stay. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The only downside of it. Would be the fact that it’s far away front kyoto station. Making moving around Kyoto a bit difficult. Only means of transportation would be either Taxi from the hotel or you can take the bus number 6 that comes every 30-60 minutes and the station is very close to the hotel.
Their onsen was also very clean and nice.

A truly magical experience. Well worth the cost
Decided to try a ryoken experience and wasn't disappointed. The room was traditional Japanese. Large and comfortable. First thing that sprung out was no bed but that's made up for you during dinner. The dinner was exquisite. So many courses in a degustation menu. Lots of sushimi soups and rice. Some meat. You won't go hungry and wine, Saki, beer reasonably priced. Futon made up on arrival back to your room and it was surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast was Japanese again. Didn't recognise .most food but a pleasant change. An expensive night but when in Rome.. or kyoto, try it

A hidden gem in Northern Kyoto
I couldn't get a reasonably priced room in the center of Kyoto since it was spring break and cherry blossoms-watching season so I ended up booking at Nenrinbo. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and room. It's a little off the beaten path, but I enjoyed the walk in this quieter part of Northern Kyoto. I stayed at Nenrinbo on a Sunday so my stay here ended up being more like a solo getaway...all with the luxury of a pool-sized bath--OFURO! Since I timed my meals on the early side so I ended up having the bath all to myself when I went to the shared bath after my meal! I speak Japanese but was pleasantly surprised by how conversant the staff were in English.

Excellent ryokan and service
The service exceeded all our expectations. The staff people were the nicest people we have ever met. The rooms are designed in the traditional Japanese style and sleeping on the tatami mats was actually quite comfortable. The rooms where nice clean and have a nice view of a japanese garden and also it has a good view of the mountains. Our japanese room had a private bathroom but we also had access to a traditional japanese bath which had the most amazing view to the mountains.. It's near enough to Kinkaku-ji and a few other shrines/temples, and quite near to Arashiyama as well.

Peaceful retreat
Enjoyed a restful sleep during my stay in the ryokan. Didn't use the public bath but room amenities were up to my expectation. Staff were accommodating. Would like to stay once I get a chance to go back .
