Medieval Magnificence

It was a beautiful hotel in a restored very old building. Our room had a fabulous view over the long flatlands looking east (Évora is on a hilltop). Couldn’t be more conveniently located near the cathedral and Roman Temple of Diana.

Feels like living in a historic bldg (built in 1500) with frescos and plaster walls and high ceilings. Situated in center old town close to cathedral and Roman ruins. The hotel is in a great location & the staff are exceptional - professional, friendly & helpful. The reception area is very small so checking in can take longer than it really should. Our “charming suite” was comfortable enough, but the kitchen that had an oven, convection stove top & full size fridge, selected because we like to self cater, was woefully lacking in the usual utensils or adequate cooking pans.
