The rooms at this property have been refurbished beautifully and are quite funky with a retro feel. Our disappointment came from the way the property was advertised. It appeared to be attached to a winery and have a restaurant. It also appeared to be of quite a high standard. On the basis of this advertising we chose to spend our anniversary here - no winery (at least that was open), no restaurant (at least that was open), a long way from anything and no choice but dinner at the local pub, which while fine, was not what we had anticipated.

We only had a quick visit staying just overnight but we would readily recommend it to others. The grounds looked very welcoming although we didn't have time to walk around them this time. The room was very spacious, the bed comfortable and I loved the shower.

The Restarant was beautiful but the motel rooms very dated in comparison. Had a floodlight shing right in my room from swimming pool. So no sleep. Shower temp was very hard to regulate. Very old bathroom no shower curtain

An old Icon rejouvenated
I recently stayed with 2 other friends for only one night. This was a stay off the back of a party in Gawler. We absolutely loved the place. The rooms have been recently renovated. The beds are comfortable and the decor well thought out for the age of the build. The real surprise was at the rear of the rooms. There is a back door that opens onto a small low balcony which looks out onto a beautiful nature block full of large trees and home to to countless birds. The main building is an iconic Lyndoch/Barossa land mark. The gardens are stunning and to be honest I thought the restaurant was closed. But under new management it has reopened. We did not have the opportunity to eat there but definately hope to return and enjoy the lovely hospitality that was given to us when we popped in for a night cap after our party. An instant family welcoming that made us feel like we were in an authentic Italian Cafe. To be clear this was not the decor but due to the friendly Managers and staff. I cant wait to return and book dinner and tour the wineries. But even if wine isnt your thing, Lyndoch is a lovely quaint town with walks and a cycle track for visiting other towns. There is plenty to do. My only recomendation would be to use UBER if it is available and not the taxi service. By taxi it cost $81 to get to Gawler and by UBER is cost $28 to get back.

The property is undergoing a full renovation. Cute sized rooms with a small verandah overlooking the roses and vineyards. New styled rooms. Keeping with the retro theme. Beautiful gardens. Over 30 thousand rose bushes. Beautiful garden trails. Just peaceful away from the hustle and bustle. Next door the Barossa Chateau with gift shop, tour antiques and delicious high tea. Both hotel owners and Barossa Chateau owners made us welcome.

You won't find many external photos of the rooms at Lyndoch Hill Motel. The motel rooms were built approximately 60 years ago and prior to the renovations would've given off a roadside motel slasher movie vibe. The new owners have thrown the paint around, with a view to capture a Palm Springs vibe. (Think, pale walls and pastel colours for doors and highlights) Opening the door to the room showed a room that had been tastefully renovated but obviously on a budget. Weirdly the highlight was the new soft spongy carpet. The bathroom still had it's original tiles and wall to wall mirror, but again the Palm Springs inspired paint and styling freshened it up. The rooms are very comfortable to stay in. There were a few downfalls: * When we went, the restaurant was not open and still being renovated. It was one of the reasons we chose this place. * The bed was far too soft to the point that the excellent new carpet was looking like a far more comfortable place to sleep. * There was no hair-dryer in the room. This made getting ready for Saturday night dinner a bit difficult for my partner.
