Poor communication almost ruined graduation

There were no checking instructions and it took an hour to get someone on the phone to tell me how to get into room. When I did get someone they said they will send the instructions via text and hung up on me. I was supposed to have free parking but over the course of three days I never got an answer on where the parking was or anything I ended up paying $80 in parking fees.

Unfortunately this stay was below average. The room is on the same level as the community space with the pool/ping pong table etc. When I arrived the sliding and screen doors were unlocked and opened!! That could let so many bugs in and is not safe. There are tons of lights out on the patio, but the only window covering for the sliding door is very thin. It let a ton of light in. It also made me feel like I had no privacy except in the bathroom. When I was in the apartment in the evening I felt like I had to keep the lights off because I didn’t want anyone seeing in. The apartment was tidy, but not clean. There was a smell as soon as I entered (I think from the garbage disposal.) The air conditioning filter had so much dirt hanging from it that I feared it would fall on my head every time I walked in. It looked like there were mold spurs on the ceiling as well. There was also no tissue box, no bath mat, and nothing to hold the toilet paper roll, just a roll of toilet paper propped nearby. The location and communication were great, but I definitely wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it.

Numb and dissatisfied

This was an okay stay. The scavenger hunt instructions to find parking, the key, and the apartment are pretty labor Intensive. The property is in a quiet location and overall this was a clean unit. The emails for check in and checkout instruction have so many statements that immediately imply that you've done something wrong even before you get there, and mildly threatening language about fees you're going to get charged if you don't “do exactly what I tell you to do”! This is why the hotel industry will never be beat out by these properties. It’s so incredibly unwelcoming and over the top presumptive guilt imposed on a guest. It’s sad that this is such a norm for apartments. I can't even be mad about it because so many of them do it. You just feel unwanted every time you stay there. I think I'm going back to just booking mainstream hotels instead. This is simply exhausting.
