Not luxurious but hazardous
Within 2 minutes of being in the room, my friend slipped on the floor and hurt her shin. I running to her almost slipped as well. The floor had cleaning streaks and was extra slippery all over. I called for an ice bucket to ice her leg, they offered to mop the floor again but I asked to give my friend time to ice her leg and relax first. I went to take a shower and almost fell in the shower as it was also extremely slippery. The tv was pixelated as we tried to watch a game and relax. The lobby was all marble flooring and the ceiling was leaking also making it another slippery hazard. We decided to leave after 3hrs. I asked for a refund and the front desk told me to contact my booking site despite the many times I was almost hurt and my friend was injured.

The hotel was nice and the room was as advertised. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and the best part of our experience. However, the hotel is located in a part of town I couldn’t walk a few steps from without feeling unsafe. My son and I were almost mugged in the parking lot, no real views of anything but squalor, and when we were told that we had a complimentary breakfast, was later charged 140 NZD. Overall, much better places to spend your money for a nights stay.

Recent stay at Soho
I recently stayed at The Soho Hotel in Auckland and was impressed by the overall experience. The room was spacious and stylish, with a large tv and nice tea and coffee facilities, offering a comfortable and modern atmosphere that made my stay enjoyable. I also appreciated the well-equipped gym, which had everything I needed for a good workout. However, there were a couple of minor downsides. The makeup light in the bathroom didn’t work, but this was not a major issue. The breakfast room service was lovely! I ordered avocado on toast, and it was fresh and delicious.

Not to my taste
It was okay. But for the price I was expecting a lot better. The room was clean and staff were polite and helpful. But the build quality of the hotel was a bit shabby. There’s lots of gold and marble looking material but there was wallpaper that was starting to peel back off the walls, poor paintwork and marks on the walls from builders pencils. The tv alcove backing was falling off and the plumbing was noisy. It just felt a bit cheap but that’s just my opinion.

The layout & location of this hotel is unfortunate. The view is great if you want to see people on the first level in their “private” hot tubs. The windows are thin so heat comes in as well as noise. It’s too bad because it’s a nice looking hotel. Location is only good if you are heading to a concert.

The Soho hotel is a beautiful, modern hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious, clean and modern the rooms were. However, I felt the location was not ideal. Our room overlooked a busy Auckland Street and we could easily see into peoples front yards, this makes it difficult to unwind and relax on the balcony due to limited privacy.
