Great central location in the "Grands Boulevards" district of Paris. Easy walking distance of tons of great restaurants, bars and little shops. Three of the covered shopping galleries from the 19th century are less than a 5 minute walk. In the other direction and only 5 minutes on foot is the nearest metro stop. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Our first night we checked in with someone who was surly, disinterested and unwilling to provide assistance with anything besides handing me a key. He put me and my 5'10" daughter in a room with one double bed. I had been assured from the manager that the requested (6 months earlier) room with 2 beds would be ours. When I spoke to the desk clerk about the room and explained that we needed to move he said that everything was booked and I would have to talk to someone else in the morning. No emotion, no apology, no concern and clearly no interest in his job.
We did not sleep much that night. The following morning I headed back to the front desk ready to do battle. There was no way we could spend the next 9 days in a double bed! This time the clerk was professional, concerned and took care of the problem right away. From then on, everyone we dealt with was all one could hope. Our new room was as we'd expected, clean and (by Paris standards) spacious. We had our little fridge replenished each day with bottled water, soda and oj. The bathroom was nice and breakfast each morning was very good.
