Not recommended
Hotel was old and in need of repair. Mold in bathroom. No water was left in room and no coffee. Shampoo only. Toilet paper looked like it was stepped on. Only a sheet to cover up with. Very noisy area. The band was right next door so very loud. Music till wee hours of the morning. Beds were good. Air conditioning was hard to contol either high or very low .

I stayed here for three weeks, and it is a great hotel. It is located just a couple of blocks from the central plaza of Merida, and there are tons of eating, shopping, and studying options nearby. The rooms are clean and the wifi is strong. Most importantly, all of the staff were very kind and friendly. I highly recommend this excellent hotel!!!

This is my second time visiting Hotel Merida. Although I had hoped to get the same room as last time, we were not able to because it was already taken. However, I still enjoyed my visit and will likely return again!

Solid value
Place looks gorgeous from the lobby. Room was solid. Staff was extremely nice. If you are super sensitive to noise and trying to go to sleep early I wouldn’t go on a weekend but otherwise solid value!

This is the cheapest hotel in the area, $33 dls a day, c’mon that’s crazy cheap and please don’t expect to get everything perfect, we runout of hot water for a little bit of time and the bathroom is kind of small, nothing is fancy here but the swimming pool is clean and nice, the staff are very friendly once you open up to them, otherwise they’re just reserved, respectful and quiet. If you have money to spend get a 5 star hotel, but if you want to save money to spend in food, tequila and archeological visits, San Juan is a great choice.

Noise
Nice hotel but a lot of noise from the Bar side to the hotel.. 3 am and the noise was horrible.. all days same thing
Serman Luis, 4-night trip

6/10 Good

Our room was right next to a dancing social club and music did not stop playing around 1:30am. I wish I would have known and asked for a room further away. Aside from that the room was comfortable and lots to do within walking distance.

Everything was great, nice big room and excellent location at a reasonable price. My only complaint was the shower could’ve been warmer. Also I wish more hotels would offer water for refillable bottles. Not only is buying bottles of water an inconvenience, all that plastic is so bad for the environment.

To much noise next door
Julio, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

It was overall a good experience, but I had some issues with the air conditioner which didn't turn on at first and the toilet sometimes required more than a single flushing. Minor issues to me that didn't ruin the stay.
Abner Eliu, 4-night trip

6/10 Good

The good: Great location if you want to be in the historic center of the city. Walkable to restaurants and shopping. Contrary to the common Mexican mattress, their mattresses were not hard as a rock, instead they were comfortable to sleep in. They have a parking lot if you need it. The bad: There's a a bar with really good food and music right next to the hotel. They play loud music, so I would not recommend the hotel for a light sleeper. If you don't mind going to sleep to salsa music, then this is a good hotel. The pool was closed the entire time due to a never-ending cleaning treatment. Overall, I would stay here again.

Plumbing issues
This would be a great place if they fixed the plumbing issues. If it was only my room, i do not know, but the toilet flush was poor quality, hot water was lacking and the tap came off in my hand due to corrosion. Hot water point-- it seems at all the hotels i stayed at luke warm water is considered hot water. Everythjng else about the hotel was great. Comfortable bed, great location, friendly staff.

I like the cleanings and the people are very nice but the hotel is terrible every time that you use the toilet you need to use a bucket no pressure. Also next door is a a restauran that makes alots of noice ven after 12.00 am not a good experience again the cleaner are realy good

8/10 Very good

Great price Not for the perfectionist.
The pictures look great but it could use a freshening up coat of paint. But we were safe, a roof over our heads and many smiles from the cleaning staff. the front desk seemed a bit more uptight. Internet was great all the time. Hot water in shower and sink. Beds are good. Pillows are a bit high for me but you may like them that way. AC works great. Had to put a plastic wrap in the shower drain to keep the gasses from coming up but it worked and the odor cleared. Great locations for parks, resturants, museums and shopping. Would be nice to have water in the room and I would love a coffee maker for in the morning. But the price was not much so can't get all the frills. Have seen many down enjoying the pool area Hopefully today we will have time for that.
