8/10 Very good

This is a nice Hotel ,in a great spot and we stayed in a smallish room 304 with a great balcony . The desk staff and bar staff were fine .However the hotel has a number of small faults that could easily be put right .1 Show head is blocked, Bathroom sink tap plumbed wrong way round , TV is on wall to side of bed so difficult to see when there is space on the wall directly in front of bed Had to wait 10 ~ 15 minutes before anyone asked what we would like to drink with breakfast . Wife has scrambled eggs on toast and could not eat scrambled eggs to watery , my breakfast was fine . All of these point are easy fixed and I would recommend you stay there .

Great location and friendly welcome

Very nice welcome and well cooked breakfast. Appreciate the design on the fabric of the cushions, curtains and bed protector . Great location The bath/ shower toggle doesn't function well though. Needs looking at.

Charming, quaint old hotel with excellent staff.

A very attractive, old Tudor style hotel. Great atmosphere. Absolutely charming, friendly and helpful staff. The room was smallish but adequate. Quiet and comfortable. bathroom clean. A good breakfast included. Hotel parking ( £10.00 per night) was quite a way from the hotel.

Natascha, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

This was our 4th visit at this hotel- chosen originally for being close to all amenities and being an older & “ quirkier “ property- this time was our wedding anniversary and believe me they pulled out all the stops We were allocated The King James Suite ( complete with 4 poster) and there were a huge bouquet of flowers, box of chocolates and a card waiting within A truly lovely gesture The room itself appears original but the bathroom was brand new - super walk in shower with two shower heads and a really nice corner bath Outstanding 👍 Breakfast is a combination of buffet style and service A nice touch was the haddock and poached egg. The full English had some really tasty bacon and a proper pork sausage. Excellent Check in and out was a breeze and all staff were really friendly and welcoming Would we come back again? Absolutely we would

The location is ideal for many of the attractions in shrewsbury and only a short walk from the railway station. A very good breakfast and we had an excellent evening meal.Would certainly stay again.
gordon, 2-night trip

Friendly staff, central location, great breakfast.
Tom, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Room wasn’t serviced until early evening, bathroom was left uncleaned with no toilet rolls. Breakfast was nice The only positive is the location
Danny, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Short Break

Check in, comfort, location food all good but hotel sadly falls short on apparent shortage of staff.Breakfast very good but disappointing restaurant menu, was expecting something more interesting than burger or fish and chips for dinner. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. Room not serviced at all one day and only received a call after requesting tea bags at 3.30pm on another. Public rooms very tired and in need of decorating or at least deep cleaning of chairs and sofas.
Mavis, 3-night trip
