This is not a best western hotel

We booked last minute under the impression that this hotel was part of the best western group According to Various google searches But became very obvious upon arrival that the standards and decor were not what you would expect from a best western hotel Carpets were filthy, dusty surfaces , no plug which didn't matter as the sink took ages to drain away Mattress was uncomfortable and noisy due to springs Pre booked so felt we wouldn't get our money back if cancelled after checkin Very disappointing as the photos do not give a true impression of what was probably a nice coachhouse several years ago

Great location, classic building.

This is an old building so, if you like creaking floorboards and a warren of rooms, it is your sort of place. Conveniently located at the top of Tonbridge High Street, with car parking, it provides easy access to the surrounding area. Breakfast was excellent.

Could do with a revamp

Fantastic service from staff, breakfast really tasty. Carpet had rip in,bathroom had only net and no privacy covering so when lights on rooms opposite or houses opposite can potentially see through. Was truly shocked this is a Best Western Hotel

I stayed for one night with breakfast included, and unfortunately, the cost is not justified by the level of service or the state of the hotel. The bathroom was unhygienic—dirty toilet, no water pressure in the cold shower, and water leaked everywhere. The coffee setup was poor: a dirty cup, barely any coffee in the sachets, and no spoon provided. The bed was uncomfortable, with a noticeable dip in the mattress and a constant squeaking sound. I could hear music from the bar and footsteps from other guests, which made it hard to sleep. There was no air conditioning, and the dirty windows were covered in pigeon droppings. The only positive was the charm of the building’s original style, which I appreciated. However, the place desperately needs attention, upgrades, and proper maintenance.

Pleasant Stay

Pleasantly surprised after reading negative reviews. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was warm, clean and comfortable. Yes, the floors creaked but its what you would expect in an old building such as this. Plenty of hot water for bath/shower. However shower lost pressure due to lots of people showering at the same time each morning. There was a good choice for breakfast and cooked to order. Excellent location in the centre of town.

Few problems

Booked us into room 14 which was cold. Spoke to reception who informed me that there was no heating in this room. Told them that we could not shower bathroom freezing and to sleep would be too cold. Very good and we got transferred to room 109 which was lovely but found out cold tap Didn’t work. No a hassle for us and room wax warm. Breakfast great and staff are friendly and helpful

Pleasant helpful staff. Quiet period. Lovely large roon very comfortable.
Ian, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

I stayed for 2 nights whilst working in the area and despite some terrible reviews, I found it to be more than reasonable, with good access to local amenities, parking was great on site and I was able to use it for the 3 days of work, and it was clean too. Staff were friendly and helpful, the coffees from the bar were also decent, and it was quiet at night too. The bed was a little old and had seen better days but was fine for being comfortable, the room was a little old fashioned and the floors were a bit noisy with creaky floorboards, but it is an old pub, so I felt it was fitting with the character. I'd happily book again.

Could be better

Old building so expected some issues but shower was not good, I’m not tall and had to bob down to get showered and the temperature was impossible to get reasonable! Also not doing evening meals even tho the welcome pack in your room gives meal times for evening meals!? Room on Road front so noisy!

Good service in a dated hotel!

The hotel is very dated and in need of repair - whilst price is reasonable and staff helpful the environment is in need of a refurbishment . It could be a lovely hotel as it has a lot of history .

Wont stay here again. The photos looked nice but my room was in the annex. One of the single bed mattresses was shot, a light bukb did not work and the showerhead had to be held. I woukd have mentioned thisctobreception on leaving but no one was there.

Reasonably priced accommodation in main part of town. Period features which need a little TLC

Almost fine

Good location on Tonbridge High Street, decent price at the last minute. Staff friendly when around. However, the room was cold and the radiator didn't work; there was no cover on the mattress (sheet straight onto mattress is weird); and the shower was dirty and didn't work properly. Shower: body hair on the wall and shower curtain, water pressure/temperature awful. The water was so hot, and the cold pressure so low, that a hot low pressure dribble was all I could achieve. It was as disappointing a start to the day as it sounds. There was no one at reception when I checked out. It's an old 'characterful' building, but there's no excuse for the dirty shower.
1-night trip

Property decor is very tired. Room was clean but carpet had holes in it, tiles off the wall in the bathroom, very squeaky floorboards. Had to ask for more coffee in the room as only enough for one cup although staff helpful with this. No shower gel in the dispenser in the bathroom. Felt it was not worth the £80 per night without breakfast.

Staff were very friendly and made sure that the multiroom group were close together. We stayed in the annex and I have never stayed in such a noisy place. Doors banging all night. Went to breakfast and it was totally disorganised. We left after 10 mins and had a fantastic Breackfast at the Ivy up the road.
