One night stay - it’s a short five minute walk from the train station which is a big plus. Excellent view of the lake and Hallstatt. Basic rooms with no AC but otherwise clean and tidy.

No water in the room, and neither of those coin machines are working (one was out of battery and the other was off). The staffs are even rude.. worst I’ve ever experienced..

We liked that this hotel was cozy and clean. The town is very small and quiet. There are not many food options past 7, but the pizza restaurant was very good, so we didn't mind. We also couldn't figure out how to get the heater to work, but we ended up not needing it because their bedding was thick and comfy. We loved it here!

there could be a small counter where we can go down and make some coffee or tea in the evening. maybe if the soda machines worked.. an incredibly sweet and helpful staff, despite us ordering breakfast a little late. she made sure of it. Thank you.. Nice and clean rooms.

Was slightly disgusted by blood stains on pillow case and blanket (im assuming they were stains and not fresh nlood).

Rude and Aggressive Reception – Felt Unsafe

Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. There was a misunderstanding regarding the parking arrangement, and when we tried to clarify and even compromise, the staff member at the reception (an older male) became very rude and aggressive. Instead of helping resolve the issue, he insulted us, mocked our English, and even threatened to remove us from the hotel. We found his behavior completely unacceptable and felt unsafe. Other reviews mention rudeness also. While Obertraun itself is wonderful, with many small B&Bs, we would not stay at this hotel again.

Gorgeous Lake View

You need to book the lake view rooms! Walking onto the balcony at all hours to admire the lake was the star of the show, especially when there's a boat playing live music in the evening. The owner, Franz, was so helpful to my elderly Asian mom. Her English isn't the best, and she told me he was patient and informative. Parking is 18EUR, but that's standard in that small area. The city enforces it, so the neighboring hotels do it too. The bathrooms are clean and were cleaned everyday. With all our activities, we missed the dinner at the hotel that everyone raves about. There's a pizza restaurant down the street that we decent and stayed open late, but next time we're back, we'll need to try the hotel's dinner!

Cleanest hotel bathroom and beds were supper comfy. Room was great for my family of 4. No A/C but with the windows opened we were comfortable. Don’t listen to the hotel when they tell you that you can catch easily catch a taxi back from Hallstatt. Waited an hour for the one taxi and eventually the family had to walk back late in the even for 3.5 miles. Be sure you catch the last ferry or bus.

Absolutely magical place in a beautiful location. One of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen. We got engaged during our stay right near the water! We will be back. Upgrade to room with lake view - definitely worth it!!
