the original room smelled and was not kept up on th masquerade tower... we then were changed to the ipanema tower, which is better rooms... but could not get the single king we ordered... but the worst part was over two nights... they never cleaned the room, not even change the towels...

The renovated rooms are very nice, the Casino and common spaces are ok but not great, the older rooms that have not yet been renovated are in poor condition. Also compared to higher end casino resorts, I feel like the air quality is poor. The smell of smoke (and the distinct air freshener they use to mask it) was really noticeable even in restaurants, conference spaces, and in the room.

I've recently been in the newer rooms that got remodeled these room are 5 stars. This trip I got a suite at the end of the hall that was HUGE, and great panoramic view , but interior is dated and shower had mold in the bottom corners.

A tale of two buildings
I have stayed her twice in the last year. The first year, I was very happy with the stay. Newly remodeled rooms, clean upgraded bathrooms. This year, however, I was placed in a room that screamed 1970. I was not happy I was charged about $3,000 for a week for 2 rooms and being put into the dumpy part of the hotel.

Upsetting
Horrible stay from when I last was at the Rio. Entering from the parking which was dirty near smash burger the place looked deserted. The casino floor is empty. The room wallpaper was peeling off and the bathroom door missing pieces and not in room coffee. Broke my heart as this used to be a great stay.

Worst experience
Terrible experience. Self check in machine doesn't work, took 45 minutes to check in and when went to the room it was filthy. Hot tub did not work. Construction In next room. Lots of noise. House keeping didn't show up one day. Entire hotel needs up keeping. Staff is very nice but they are short handed.

As always enjoyed my stay at the Rio. The updated rooms are great. I did have an odor coming from the taps that was unpleasant but that is the only thing I can mention that was not up to par. It would be nice to have a microwave in the room. Will stay there again on my next visit and recommend it.
