Step into a living museum where medieval history unfolds along cobblestone streets and honey-colored stone walls. Rhodes Old Town mesmerizes with its 14th-century Knights Hospitaller architecture, Byzantine churches with frescoed interiors, and Ottoman mosques dotting jasmine-scented squares. The Street of Knights showcases Gothic facades while the Palace of the Grand Master stands as an impressive centerpiece of this UNESCO treasure.
Traditional tavernas serve fresh seafood in candlelit courtyards while artisan workshops offer handmade ceramics and jewelry. Boutique hotels in restored medieval buildings provide character-filled stays. The car-free streets require walking on uneven stones, but the authentic atmosphere is worth every step.
Neochori offers an escape into authentic Greek village life, away from Rhodes' tourist crowds. Wander narrow cobblestone streets lined with traditional whitewashed houses and blue shutters. The peaceful rhythm of local life—morning coffees, afternoon siestas, evening gatherings—gives travelers a genuine glimpse into island culture. The surrounding Mediterranean landscape invites exploration of wild herbs and olive groves.
Village life centers around one or two family-run tavernas serving homestyle Greek cuisine at budget-friendly prices. The entire village can be explored on foot within minutes, though a rental car is recommended for visiting nearby beaches and Rhodes Town. Simple guesthouses offer authentic accommodations with genuine local hospitality.
Agios Nikolaos
Step back in time as you wander through Agios Nikolaos' narrow cobblestone streets lined with medieval stone towers and Byzantine churches. The Street of Knights showcases impressive Gothic facades while Ottoman minarets pierce the sky above this UNESCO World Heritage site. Hidden courtyards draped with bougainvillea create an atmospheric maze perfect for history lovers and photographers alike.
Traditional tavernas serve fresh seafood in charming stone courtyards throughout this pedestrian-only zone. Boutique hotels in restored medieval buildings offer intimate accommodations with vaulted ceilings and wrought-iron details. Getting around requires walking as vehicles aren't permitted within the ancient walls, making exploration a delightfully immersive experience.
When the beach is calling your name, you might want to head down to Pefkos Beach in the heart of Pefkos. Enjoy the sunset by the shore at Agios Thomá Beach, Kavos Beach, and Plakiá Beach, all 3 within a short walk.
If want to top up your tan, you might want to head out to Tsambika Beach, located 2 mi (3.2 km) from central Archangelos. Enjoy the sunset by the shore at Kolimbia Beach, Stegna Beach, and Afandou Beach.
If thrills are what you're after, head to Water Park Faliraki when visiting the centre of Ammoudes. Hotels.com travelers also say the area is relaxing and has lots of nice beaches. If you have fun at Water Park Faliraki, you'll love Stamatiadis Mineralogy and Paleontology Museum, located nearby.
If a restful vacation is part of your travel plans, Lindos Beach might be the perfect place to seek out during your trip to Lindos. While in this quaint area, you can enjoy the bars.
Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes
You can browse the exhibits at Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, a museum with a storied past, during your travels to Rhodes Town. While you're in the area, stroll along the beautiful beaches.
Wander through the medieval Old Town, marveling at the Palace of the Grand Master's imposing walls. Bask on sun-drenched beaches, then explore ancient ruins or join a sunset sailing trip around the island.
"This our 2nd visit to Helea and it was great, as a family with young kids looking for a one-stop-shop this resort checks all the boxes - full board, beach, pools, water park, kids club, cinema, nightly family activities and shows and more. The resort functioned impeccably (except for some minor hiccups with the the main restaurant during rush hour and with the room cleaners), the kids had tons of fun and their parents too!"
"Our stay at the Lydia Maris in Rhodes was very nice. The staff at the hotel are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. This includes staff at the front desk, restaurants, bars and the pool staff. They always greeted us with a smile and were alway happy to have a chat. It’s location is in reach of lots of shops and it has a very good reliable bus service to some of the nearby tourist attractions. It’s a lovely hotel but I don’t feel it offers all the facilities of a 5 star hotel as there was no access to an iron, extra fees charged to use the safe. The rooms are a bit dated and need to be modernised but other than that a lovely hotel. "
"Our first time in Rhodes and we’re so lucky to stay in this beautiful family run hotel. Katerina and family are so welcoming. Loved our room and the sea view in the horizon. Perfect location to travel everywhere. There were restaurants in walkable distance as well. Highly recommended if you are looking for peaceful stay."
"The hotel was clean and amenities were what we expected. Location was close to the main area of Lindos for dinner and shopping, and the kids loved the pool. Food was good and breakfast had a wide variety of options. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the room was clean with everything we could need. Would definitely stay here again!"
"Everything was as expected from a five star hotel, the staff extremely polite and friendly, the service was excellent so was the food. could not find anything negative about the hotel nor the area.
Few swimming pools, spa.
Highly recommend and will certainly return."
"WoW simply WoW!
We have just returned home from staying at the Kresten Royal Euphoria Resort. We’ve had an absolutely wonderful time. The whole experience of staying here at Kresten Royal in Rhodes was just so perfect. From start to finish the staff couldn’t do more for us. The hotel was amazing, it has everything you could ever ask for.
Beautiful spotlessly clean illuminated pools. Bars with a fantastic drinks selection, restaurants serving outstanding delicious food. The breakfast is absolutely outstanding for service and selection of food, from fresh fruit, eggs however you like them, meats, salmon, fresh pastries and bread, fresh pancakes cooked right before you eyes, cheeses galore etc etc.
An amazing amphitheatre for entertainment virtually every night. A private beach with sun loungers to access a small enclosed cove to swim and snorkel and venture out into the crystal clear sea, or to just dip your feet into to cool down.
We were lucky enough to book a Junior Suit with our very own private Pool that was out of this world to jump into whenever we fancied cooling off, great for a midnight dip after visiting the Beautiful Old Town of Rhodes which is only a 10 minute taxi ride to some delicious restaurants.
I’d highly recommend Romeo’s for a complete Greek atmosphere including smashing your very own plates Greek style. Or if you fancy a fine dinning experience I’d highly recommend Marco Polos Mansion, a simply delicious experience.
I’ll be back soon.
Johnny"
"Beautiful hotel with great food and service. They were even kind enough to upgrade us which really made our stay special. We couldn't fault the place, it was perfect."
"The service from Mannolis in Emerald and Fresh was incredible. He really took such great care of us throughout our trip.
The pillows and bedding were very comfortable. Mini Golf was lots of fun too!"
Mayia Exclusive Resort & Spa - Adults Only - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"I cannot fault this resort or its staff. It was spotless, every member of the team we encountered was so friendly and accommodating, they couldn’t do enough for us, the food was excellent and the facilities like the pools and spa were also excellent. It’s a beautiful hotel and I would highly recommend going. The surrounding town there wasn’t lots to do but there is a private bit of beach that has beds that belong to the hotel and a bar, and you can do water sports with several companies. You would have to travel a little to get to Lindos or further to the old town (more than an hour), however we didn’t feel the need to leave the resort to be honest as we had a swim up room, food and drink on tap and a lovely atmosphere. There was evening entertainment most nights which was great too. A very luxurious and beautiful hotel. As this was for my partners birthday and we were gifted a cake and wine in the room and upgraded which was such a lovely surprise. I can’t recommend them enough. "
"We love our stay. Every member of staff we interacted with was friendly and helpful.
Very quiet and beautiful place, the food options were great, we really enjoyed the main restaurant and La Pasteria."
"What a stunning resort and wonderful holiday. We had a fabulous 10 day holiday, great swimming pools often with loungers available later on in the day. Beach a few minutes walk across the road at the bottom of the resort. Would be better if people weren't allowed to save loungers. We arrived at the beach most days by nine and had to search for loungers available for the three of us as others had saved with towels, some didn't show up til midday.
Main restaurant had a wonderful selection of food and then there were themed restaurants, you had to book, we chose the Greek restaurant and ate well. Staff were so friendly and helpful.
Room was adequate for the three of us, a double and a two singles in the same room with ensuite bath/shower and balcony. Coffee/tea and fridge refilled daily with water, soft drinks, beer and wine. "
"We have loved staying at Mitsis Petit Palais. The staff were very nice, the rooms are clean, and the location in Rhodes was amazing to walk around or book activites! I highly recommend the hotel!"
"We had a fantastic modern room overlooking the sea. Extremely comfortable and spacious. The selection of food was excellent. The animation team and activities ie the water slides and pool based activities, were also a highlight. Staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble for example, on our last day we were told that our all inclusive package continued until we left for the airport and a shower room was bookable (free of charge) for us to change and get ready for our flight.
It was a bit annoying that guests were able to reserve sunbeds around the pool from very early in the morning, the policy of lifeguards removing towels if noticed was not enforced. Overall as a family of 4, we all loved our stay and would recommend to friends and family.
"
"The hotel is really smart, the staff are super helpful. Rooms were great and a decent size. The food was a little hit and miss, and premium drinks were very few and far between. Most of the time they'd run out. Loads of seating options around the pool. And actively removing towels that were reservong empty beds was refeeshing to so. Would 100% return here next year."
"It’s a fantastic hotel, we had a swim up room which I would highly recommend. Lots of excellent places to eat and drink (although don’t bother to pay for the beach bar bbq). Lovely clean, spacious room with really good air con. "
"Super hotel, lovely pool, towels provided for sun-beds, bottled water provided in room each day. Excellent choice of food at breakfast and always a warm welcome from staff. Easy to use App to order food and drinks to your sun-bed, or mini-market where you can buy drinks, snacks and ice creams and charge to your room.
Lots of excellent restaurants nearby to walk to. Beach across the road from the hotel very stony and sea was quite rough, umbrellas and sun-beds available for hire. Short taxi ride to Rhodes old town, lots of lovely shops we had fantastic meals in il Borgo and mama Sofia, definitely worth booking in advance as large queues outside. Only downside, not really enough sun-beds in July if you get down to pool after 11am, although staff are very helpful at finding spare beds and moving them for you. "
"Just a smooth easy stay for us. No issues at all. Staff were smiley, friendly and superb and in particular the Exec Chef Nikolas was super reassuring with my son's nut allergy."
"Highly recommend. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff, 3 choices of restaurants all placed around the pool, reasonable prices. Pool bar excellent again reasonable priced drinks. Location only a few minutes walk to the beach and bus stop. Good location and short taxi journey to airport and Old Rhodes Town. Would definitely go back as so many more sights to see. "
"A lovely place to stay where you could be quiet and have space for yourself. The staff were first rate and considerate and were friendly without being intrusive. On arrival I was given advice and a print out of useful information which was very welcome.
The room was clean and spacious and the breakfast buffet was lovely. Ideal for a short or longer stay.
In a quiet area but only fifteen minutes walk from the old town and amenities."
