It's a lovely weekend. If you are into stargazing, this is the place in Texas. Star parties at the McDonald's observatory are amazing and a must do. The fort is great. The State Park has some dog friendly hikes, one is a nice overlook of Fort Davis.

The town is very cute and friendly. Local stores have a schedule of which restaurants are open on which days. We found a great food truck for breakfast. The night sky is the main event there.

Incredible nature options nearby. Beautiful area. Be aware the town closes really early and surprisingly does not open early. My wife's only coffee option was the little grocery store that opened at 8. That market also had very good breakfast burrito

Fort Davis is beautiful - I enjoyed walking around in the small town. The weather is perfect...I enjoyed antique shopping while I was there. The only drawback is that the dining options are minimal especially on Sundays and Mondays.

Good
Not too many places open for dining on a Saturday evening after our arrival. Almost no place open Sunday morning for breakfast or coffee. That aside, however, the room at the Inn were great.

Hampton Inn Alpine
10/10 Excellent
"Really loved the location of this hotel! Very quiet. The staff was super nice and they had a fridge AND microwave in the room which was a massive plus as we had to throw out a lot of food due to other hotels not providing a way to heat up leftovers"
"The Maverick greatly exceeded expectations. The room was truly excellent and spacious. Well stocked with things a first class hotel would have. Very convenient location. The maverick will be our default stay every time we're in Alpine...my home town (AHS '64 &. SR '68). We were glad the Holland Hotel was available until 8 pm for checkin, as we were rushing and would have missed the 7pm noted on the Maverick paperwork. First night fans were a noise problem, however, the cleaning crew had already alerted management and they were repaired first thing second morning. Perfect then on! Trains noisy, but nothing new there, no matter where you stay in Alpine. The old Siesta Motel could not have received a better makeover than what the Holland Hotel folks created. Excellent quality! The Maverick was the best stay we've had in Alpine in a long, long time!! Thank you!"
"This property is literally at the edge of a gorgeous mountain, surrounded by lovely birds and calm nature. You can't put a price on amenities like that! You could pay more to stay at the nearby historic Limpia Hotel (and that's where you will probably eat, since there are very few dining options in Fr. Davis), but in my opinion, even that would not be better. I will stay here again. Gracious hosts, clear communication: there's a good spirit to this clean, well-appointed small hotel. "
"Clean, spacious room with a super comfortable bed. Easy access, safe location and close to Marfa Lights viewing platform. Staff was very friendly and informative. Great value."
"easy in easy out , dated but perfect for pets, you want high class go somewhere else, you want remodeled , good stuff that works with no hub ub , this is it "
